Can you be punished if you talk on your mobile phone while being involved in an accident?
“Using a mobile phones and other communication devices while driving have been tightened. This type of equipment may only be used if it does not impact the driver in a manner that causes a traffic hazard. […] Anyone violating these provisions can be sentenced to pay a fine. […] Previously, the police have only been able to report the more serious category of reckless driving, which in practice often requires an accident to have taken place.” (The Swedish Police)
The new mobile phone regulations do not impact on “reckless driving”, which has more serious sanctions than the fine you can get if you cause the car to zigzag while talking on your mobile phone.
