Which statement is true regarding the fuel consumption per kilometre for a petrol-driven car with a catalytic converter after a cold start?
“The short distances cause the most pollution per km. […] Petrol consumption and carbon dioxide emissions are 35% higher in the first 5 km, as a cold engine requires a “richer” fuel mix. During the first 5 km, the average car will consume as much as 0.14 litres/km.” (Swedish Society for Nature Conservation)
Note that the question is asking about the consumption per kilometre, i.e. an average. Over a longer distance, you will normally use more fuel overall, but not in terms of average consumption per kilometre.
Körkortonline.se offers driving licence theory tests in English (free demo test), Swedish (free demo test). This is an example of an explanation of a test question.
There is also a driving licence book online (2026).
