May cars coming in the right lane pass the stop line in the situation in the picture?

  • Incorrect: Yes, since the red light only applies to the lane in the middle.
  • Correct: No, since there is a red light.
  • Incorrect: No, since there is a pedestrian on the pedestrian crossing.
  • Incorrect: Yes, but they may not pass the red light located before the pedestrian crossing.


Red (SIG1)
Stop. A vehicle may not pass the stop line or, in the absence of such, the signal. A signal with an arrow outline only applies to the direction or directions indicated by the arrow.


Stop line (M13)
The marking indicates where a vehicle should be stopped according to a road sign or traffic signal.

How the situation should be interpreted: Everyone must stop at the stop line until it turns green, except for the vehicles in the left lane, who may turn directly.
