How do the right of way rules work in the situation in the picture?

  • Correct: The right-hand rule applies, which means that I am obliged to give way to vehicles coming from the right.
  • Incorrect: The right-hand rule applies, which means that vehicles coming from the right must give way to me.
  • Incorrect: There are no rules that cover this situation. Mutual consideration and adaptation must apply.

The right-hand rule: “When the paths of two vehicles intersect, the one driver must give way to the vehicle approaching from the right”. (Swedish Road Traffic Ordinance)

Why not the exit rule?
– There is a sign with a street name, which is a strong indication that it is not an exit.
