The car in the image is coming towards you. The headlights of the oncoming car are broken on side B. Which alternative is true in the dark?

  • Incorrect: The risk of colliding with the oncoming car would be higher if only the headlights on side A were broken.
  • Correct: The risk of colliding with the oncoming car is higher if only the headlights on side B are broken, as in the image.
  • Incorrect: The risk of colliding with the oncoming car is just as great, irrespective of which of the headlights are broken.

If only headlights B are broken, you may think that you have a wider margin than what is actually the case and therefore drive too close to the middle of the road:
