A learner’s permit is a requirement for taking driving lessons and for doing a driving test (theory test and practical driving test) at the Swedish Transport Administration. The learner’s permit is issued by the Swedish Transport Agency and is valid for 5 years.
When your application for a learner’s permit is received by the Swedish Transport Agency, they assess your suitability as a driver. A criminal record as well as medical issues may result in the Swedish Transport Agency rejecting your application.
The learner’s permit is free; however, you must do an eye test at an optician. The eye test costs around 200 kr (some driving schools also offer eye tests).
Remember to always have your learner’s permit and some form of ID with you during the driving lessons.
