The picture is taken from the car you are driving. Where should you be looking?

  • Incorrect: A, since the most important thing is to know what is happening close to the car.
  • Incorrect: B, since the oncoming car may make a sudden move and also to know when you can put your full beams back on.
  • Correct: C, since this reduces the risk of being dazzled whilst also enabling you to look out for animals or other obstacles.

When driving in the dark, you should look “far ahead along the side of the road.” (Driving Licence Book, 19th Edition, page 155)
