“Where the maximum permitted speed is 50 kilometres an hour or lower, a driver that is approaching a bus shall, when the bus driver indicates the intention to depart from a bus stop, slow down and allow the bus to leave the bus stop. If necessary, the driver shall stop.” (Swedish Road Traffic Ordinance)
This is so that the bus schedules can be kept. In rush hour traffic it can otherwise take a long time to pull out from the bus stop.
Do you get confused over whether it is at speeds over or under 50 km/h that you should give way to the bus? – Keep in mind that the problem is greatest within built-up areas with heavy traffic. Also remember that it is dangerous if cars would need to brake from speeds of, for example, 90 km/h on country roads to let buses out.
Körkortonline.se offers driving licence theory tests in English (free demo test), Swedish (free demo test). This is an example of an explanation of a test question.
There is also a driving licence book online (2026).
