You have parked your car by the kerb on the right side of the road on a downhill slope. Which option is true?

  • Correct: You should turn the steering wheel to the right to prevent the car from rolling.
  • Incorrect: You should turn the steering wheel to the left to prevent the car from rolling.
  • Incorrect: You should not turn the steering wheel at all; it is best for the wheels to point straight ahead.

Downhill slope = if the car starts to move, it will do so forwards, i.e. bonnet first. If the wheels are turned to the right, they will simply roll into the kerb and then the car will stop.
