You are turning left. What rule applies?

  • Correct: You can turn left right away, even though the arrow indicating left has not turned green.
  • Incorrect: You have to wait until the arrow turns green.

Since the arrow is unlit, you should ignore it. In other words, you are looking at a regular green traffic signal.

The fact that the arrow is unlit can be seen from the green colour, which differs significantly from the lit light on the right. A lit arrow would have exactly the same colour as the light on the right:

So what is the function of the green arrow?
– If only the green arrow is lit, it means that only vehicles turning to the left are allowed to go. As it is (green circle), you are permitted to drive in all directions, including to the left.
