What does this road sign mean?

  • Correct: No vehicles with trailer if the combined length of the vehicle and trailer exceeds 20 metres.
  • Incorrect: No vehicles having an overall length exceeding 20 metres. A coupled trailer meaning that the combined length of the vehicle and trailer exceeds 20 metres is acceptable however.
  • Incorrect: No vehicles having an overall width exceeding 20 metres.
  • Incorrect: No vehicles having an overall length under 20 metres.


Restricted vehicle length (C18)
The sign indicates that traffic with vehicles or a vehicle/trailer combination over a certain length is prohibited. The greatest permitted length is indicated on the sign.

Vehicle/trailer combination: ”A motor vehicle with one or several connected vehicles.” (Road Traffic Definitions Act)
