You are visiting a city and planning your parking for tomorrow, which is Wednesday, 1 May (national holiday). Which statement is true?

  • Incorrect: I can park in this space all of Wednesday without paying a charge.
  • Correct: I may not park in this space between 00.00 and 06.00.
  • Incorrect: I can park in this space all of Wednesday provided that I pay a charge.
  • Incorrect: I may not park in this space as the parking area is only for residents.

Review of the options:

  • I can park in this space all of Wednesday without paying a charge.
    – False, a charge must be paid on all days since it only says “Avgift” (Charge) on the sign and has no time indications.
  • I may not park in this space between 00.00 and 06.00.
    – True, “If a certain day or certain weekday is indicated, the regulation applies to this day regardless of whether the day is a weekday, Sunday or public holiday.”
  • I can park in this space all of Wednesday provided that I pay a charge.
    – False, not between 00.00 and 06.00, therefore not all of Wednesday.
  • I may not park in this space as the parking area is only for residents.
    – False, both those that pay and residents can park.

Time indication (T6)
If a certain day or certain weekday is indicated, the regulation applies to this day regardless of whether the day is a weekday, Sunday or public holiday.

But should the text not be in red for it to apply on a public holiday?
– Normally yes, but there is one exception; see the quotation above. Therefore, if it says “Wednesday 00.00-06.00”, this applies to all Wednesdays, including national holidays.
