Which alternative is not a common type of brake in private cars?
Disc brakes and drum brakes are the brakes predominately used for private cars. Drum brakes on the rear wheels and disc brakes on the front wheels are a common combination. It is hard to even find any information about “spring brakes”, which means it is not a common type of brake, which was the subject of the question.
