The picture is taken from your car. Should you think of anything in particular in this situation?

  • Incorrect: Yes, to increase speed so that the oncoming cars can drive out in my lane when they pass the road worker.
  • Correct: Yes, to reduce speed and drive far to the right so that the oncoming cars can pass the road worker with a wider safety margin.
  • Incorrect: No, nothing in particular.

Some form of consideration should be shown to the road worker. He may forget the vehicle traffic for a moment and start to walk backwards with surveying equipment = good that the cars drive with wide safety margins.

The most reasonable and safe choice is to reduce your speed and drive on the right. Increasing speed would be unusual and unsafe.
