How much, at least, should the cargo fastenings be able to withstand?

  • Incorrect: 50% of the cargo weight in the front and 50% of the cargo weight in the back.
  • Incorrect: 100% of the cargo weight in the front and 100% of the cargo weight in the back.
  • Incorrect: 50% of the cargo weight in the front and 100% of the cargo weight in the back.
  • Correct: 80% of the cargo weight in the front and 50% of the cargo weight in the back.

If, for example, you have a TV on the trailer weighing 30 kg, the straps (the cargo fastenings) must be able to withstand a pressure of at least 24 kg (30 * 0.8) to the front and 15 kg to the back (30 * 0.5). If this is not the case, the straps could snap when you brake hard.
