I cried to the damn test!

Hey, I want to share my story of driving test. I have 5 years experience from my hometown and booked 10 driving lessons here. I failed 2 times almost give up but passed on third.

The first time, examiner was very rude. I was nervous and made a stupid mistake. He scold me at the point, then I panicked and everything was disaster. He aborted my test and had to drive back to trafikverket. He told me that I shouldnt come to test to get educated and something like that. I almost gave up after this, cried a lot, but my wife encourage me to try it again.

The second time, examiner was very nice. He is calm, he even told me to carefully drive on the road in front of trafikverket since many cars love to go full speed there (I think he saw me nervous). I made some stupid mistake again, this time I didnt brake enough to turn right on country road (I miss the direction sign and failed to decerelate beforehand). He calmly explain me the risk. When the test was over, he pointed out my mistake, but he also said what I did good (like where to look at a given situation) and told me to keep doing the good things. After this test, I start booking next test immediately, and this time, I was lucky enough to get another nice examiner again. In the end I passed on this try.

I think the test somewhat depend on your luck, like the traffic situation and which examiner will you get. I can say that, If i get the same rude guy in both 1st and 2nd try, maybe I will give up and never get my licence. So those who are still struggling, feel free to share your frustation, and dont give up!

You still need to drive well but yeah, there is a big gamble on the instructor you going to have.

Yep. The driving test is partly luck based. Small part the instructor but mostly the traffic.

If there’s a lot of traffic then you have to pay attention in front and try to find gaps but also have stressed and annoyed people behind you so you are ”fighting on two fronts”.

Even worse if school is out for the day because then there’s lots of pedestrians (even though I prefer them over stressed drivers).

Unfortunate that its objective judging on something that can be very subjective depending on who’s driving around you.

I do not think this is a honest test especially if you are not swedish and those guys want to take your money a lot

People say this all the time, but the examiners don’t get paid more to fail you...and they have plenty of people looking to book tests?

Maybe you’re just terrible at driving if you fail?
