Turning to left in country road

Assume that you are driving in a country road speed is 80KMH, You have to turn to the left from the next junction, then you turn on the indicator and when you are reaching to the junction, you encounter huge traffic from the opposite side,
But you already slow down your speed to 20 km,

How should you handle the situation in the best way,

1, turn off the single and continue straight
2. stop in the left side of the lane wait for a gap in the traffic and then pass to left road

additionally, if you driving a manual car, what should be the best gear while turning in this junction?

If its not disturbing the traffic behind me and there aren’t many behind i would stop and Wait for passning have first gear then quickly to second gear
