Language Question

Hej!
I was wondering if anyone here had experiences taking their driving exam in English in cities outside Stockholm? In Stockholm, my driving school has re-assured me that the inspectors here can give the test in English, but if I need to book a test in another town will it be the same?

I can understand most Swedish now, but cannot speak it that well. It just takes me awhile to understand directions (especially while focused on driving), so I’d like to practice more if it’s needed!

I do not have that experiance in takin the driver exam in English language, but it shouldnt be a problem at all.

Before you book a drivers test on places yore considering to do in places you want to do the drivers exam, just call em first just to be sure.

But im pretty sure it wont be a problem at all.

I think there will be no problem if you will speak in english. Like you I can also understand and can speak swedish but of course like with this important test, I understand that speaking a language that you’re more fluent is better.
I had my driving test(uppkörning) in November last year here in Norrköping. Before I started driving, I told the inspector how I feel and my concerns on having the test in swedish language. He then said that he’ll speak english if I want. So, I think that they’re actually very flexible about it. (And, personally I think that swedish people are good in speaking english). But, just to be sure..make a call to transportstyrelsen.

I took the driving test in Västerås, most of the examiners speak English, i know because I had 3 driving tests. But when you get non english speaking examiner, only thing you might miss is the conversation but otherwise, the instructions are single words like vänster, hoger, rakt fram, parkera, ..... which I managed and passed too.

Feel so relieved to hear about it all, I’ll definitely be calling in advance to make sure the specific place will be alright with English (but if the instructions are that simple, it should be alright for me in Swedish too!)
