The curriculum

There is no official driving theory in Sweden. Neither the Swedish Transport Agency, the Swedish Transport Administration nor any other authority publishes a complete driving theory that everyone is expected to know.

What does exist is an official curriculum. Our theory follows the official curriculum from the Swedish Transport Agency. The problem with the curriculum is that it is very short and written in general terms. Quotes from the curriculum (translated from Swedish):

• Explain “the car’s various safety systems and how they work”.
  • You will almost certainly need to know things about seat belts. But do you need to know about the knee airbags fitted in certain cars? No details are given.
• Explain “the traffic rules that apply to driving a car”.
  • The priority-to-the-right rule is a traffic rule. So is the requirement to keep your speed low enough “when the vehicle approaches livestock on the road”. Which rule matters most and deserves the most attention? No details are given.
